Meet The Boys of the Watson Brothers Trio from Englewood, TN!
Jonathan Watson
Jonathan Watson (Eddy’s Brother) sings tenor, baritone, and bass (on occasion). I have been playing bass guitar for 8 years now. David Davis taught me when I was a senior in High School. I was born on May 1, 1985 at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, TN, but my hometown is in Englewood, TN. I was born again on Oct. 22, 1995 at 10 years old at the Open Door Bapt. Church in Sweetwater, TN (our current home church). I grew up listening and creating my style around such known groups as the Inspirations, the Happy Goodmans, the Hinsons, the Nelons, and the Primitive Quartet, just to name a few. I grew up in Old Time Campmeetings, Tent Revivals, and in the "Hay Day," of great Southern Gospel music. My dad, Rev. Ted Watson, got me into a "Drug Problem," draging me from church to church to sing or listen to him preach from the KJV 1611, God's Word. I attended Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and graduated in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Telecommunications. Today at Open Door I play bass every Sunday and Wednesday, plus I hold the office of Sunday School Superintendant. Jonathan also takes care of the Duplications, Media and some of the booking for the Trio. I now am ready for whatever God has in store for me on the road as we sing part-time, and I go just to see Souls saved under our ministry in song.
On July 21st, 2018, at 11am, Jonathan Watson married Brittany Rhea from Clinton, TN at Open Door Missionary Baptist Church in Sweetwater, TN. Jonathan met Brittany at Praise 96.3 singings in Knoxville where she worked as Mid-Day On Air Personality. They dated for a year and he popped the question at A&W in Madisonville the site of Jonathan's Mom and Dads first date. There were 300 in attendance at the Wedding Ceremony. Rev. Mitch Galyon of Journey Home officiated the ceremony and some of our closest friends and family took part as well. Preachers Chad Oody, Roy Hogan, Donnie Dalton and Mason Strictland said prayers and had words of encouragement for the couple. The Watson Brothers Trio sang "Written In Red", The Inspirations sang "The Wedding Invitation", The Primitive Quartet sung 'Thank You For The Roses" and Messiah's Call sang for the Reception. Please pray for Jonathan and Brittany and Brittanys son Jacob in their journey together.
Eddy Watson
Eddy Watson (Jonathan’s Brother) sings, Lead, Bass, and Baritone (on occasion). Eddy was born on July 30, 1976, and was born again in 1981 at the Old Salem Bapt. Church in Delano, TN. Eddy went to McMinn Central High School in 1995, where was elected "Mr. CHS," that year. In the late 1980's and early 1990's Eddy was a full-time DJ on WENR 1090 AM in Englewood, TN, playing the current Southern Gospel Music of that time. Then from 1998 to 2008, he also accompanied his dad, Rev. Ted Watson on the local sports broadcasts. Eddy also is a correspondent graduate from Jerry Falwell's "Institute of Biblical Studies," program in Lynchburg VA. Eddy also grew up under the influences of the Inspirations, the Happy Goodmans, the Hinsons, the Nelons, Squire Parsons and the Primitive Quartet, just to name a few. Some people describe Eddy as "The Next Troy Burns." Eddy has also been the Choir Director at the Open Door Bapt. Church for all 16 years of its existence. He has been an integral part of the growth of the Southern Gospel Concerts in the East Tennessee area. Eddy is also in charge of the PA, product and some of the booking for the Trio.
Our Baritone Singers
Since our inception we have had some great men that have helped us out along the way. We at the present time are looking for a full-time Baritone to travel with us to the dates, but until then God has sent men along our way to fill in should we need them. We have been known for having live instruments, most of the time our Baritone singer will be required to play an instrument such as Lead Guitar or Piano. When a third person does not go with us we have the capability of continuing on using pre-recorded tracks, which have been created by studio musicians who are friends of ours and are saved by the grace of God, we don't associate with artists of the secular relm.
David Davis (Our Original Baritone, Pianist, and Lead Guitarist)
David Davis helped us start the group in 2009, we started practicing in his studio trailor also known as " The New Bethel Bible School Studios" he has a radio broadcast on WDEH 800 AM every Saturday from 3:30-4:00pm. He was saved in the late 80s and called to preach in the year 2000. Our first mode of transportation was his 2004 Ford Dooley 450 in which we dubbed, " The Watson Brothers White Bus" lol, it pulled our PA Trailor until it broke down in Crossville. Jonathan and Eddy have always ribbed him about that since the incident. David is married to Sheila Davis and is the Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Madisonville, TN. They reside in Englewood, TN. His Granddaughter Grace Harril, assists with Leading the Choir there and her Brother Noah runs sound for the Church. In Febuary 2016, David made the decision to resign from traveling with us full-time as his Church duty has Pastor outweighed his responsibility of our ministry, in which he has visitation alot with the sick of the Church. David still fills in from time to time but only on close appointments and preachers fellowships. we since have not had a full-time baritone since, please pray that the Lord will change that soon.
Bob Holbrook ( Part-Time Baritone and Pianist)
Bob Holbrook is from Seymour, TN. He is married to his wife Lynn and they attend Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in Alcoa, TN. Bob has a solo ministry but also is accomplished pianist. He has taught many Students. Bob sings a Medley of "Sweet Beulah Land/O Come Angel Band" plus "Who Am I" and many other old standards when he sings with us." Bob has played for many favorite groups of the past the Weatherford Quartet and the Blue Ridge Quartet to name of few. Bob still fills in for us alot till this day.
Justin Humbard ( Part- Time Baritone and Pianist)
Justin is a resident of Cleveland, TN, and also is a young preacher. He attends Boanerges Baptist Church, in Tennga, TN and is the youth director there. We met him when he played piano for Dallas Rogers and Restored Trio in 2012. We told him we would keep him in mind if we ever needed a fill-in. We have used him several times since then, when David left us in 2016 he helped us about 6 appointments that year. He also recorded with us on our 2016 DVD and CD Live Projects, "Spiritfilled Singing Live." Justin also has a quartet called "Brothers In Hymn" Jonathan Watson has filled in for them on one occasion singing Baritone. Justin is the head salesmen at Homestead Lawn and Tractor in Cleveland, TN and can only help us when his job permits him to. He sings, "The Unseen Hand, The Longer I Serve Him" when he sings with us plus some of David's old numbers.
Alex Cain (Part-Time Pianist, and Guitarist)
Alex Cain is a resident of Old Fort, TN. Alex was saved at a young age and was called to Preach in his 20s. He has served as pianist for his Dad, Rev. John Cain at Antioch Baptist Church and Harmony Baptist Church in Benton, TN. He is currently the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Riceville, TN. He is married to his wife Carly and they have two precious boys, Jonah, and Elijah. We approached Alex in 2022 to fill-in for our group during David Davis and Bob Holbrook's Abscences, due to Heart surgeries recoveries, and he graciously agreed. We love to hear him sing "Mercy Walked In" with us. We are honored to have this young man apart of our group as well when his schedule allows it. Thank God for young people that still believe in the old time.
Silas Fuller (Part-Time Baritone and Pianist and Guitarist)
